About
My name is Brendan Zivcic. I live with my beautiful girlfriend in the coastal town of Wollongong, so going to the beach to hang around is second nature to us. I also love watching good movies and listening to music – I have a respectable home theatre setup that gets a decent workout over the weekend, much to the expense of our neighbours. I also enjoy a good book on occasion. I love to go out and know how to have a good time. My girlfriend and I have been known to boogie on down to the wee hours of the morning… afternoon… evening??
I am lucky enough to work for an ICT solutions company, Gen-i, who specialise in a delivering and managing a heap of different IT services. It’s a great workplace with huge amounts of opportunity for personal growth. I have worked with some great people on some very cool projects.
To date, my contributions have mainly been towards the mobility side of things – Blackberry, Windows Mobile and other mobility solutions are my specialty – however, I also have interests in other areas. I recently passed a test and am now a MCTS: Exchange 2007 Configuring, so you can probably guess that my interests in messaging extend beyond the mobile platform. I am also very interested in Unified Communications (UC), and actively participate in the SydneyUC user group. We meet once a month to talk geeky about news in the UC world. I am also interested in security and virtualisation. I am looking forward to doing work in this area at a later date.
Prior to Gen-i, I worked at a company called WDS Global in Wollongong. This is where my interests in mobility started, doing all kinds of work – most notably, I often flew around the country representing Microsoft, presenting and running workshops on Windows Mobile. I regard these events particularly high, as it gave me some of my most valuable professional experience.
